Ponchos are the most versatile form of rain gear. They ventilate better than a jacket/pants combination, cover a pack as well as the body and eliminate the need for rain pants in most circumstances. Pack Poncho UL delivers these advantages in a remarkably light, compact and unique form. And it’s available in three sizes to fit nearly anyone.
An important feature of Pack Poncho UL is the integrated zippered pack compartment, which accommodates packs up to 100 liters. When worn without a pack, the pack section is zipped closed and tucks away inside the poncho. A clever snap-button, located in the upper back area, closes around a backpack’s haul loop, allowing the poncho to be removed from over the head and body and gathered-and-stowed across the shoulders when the rain and wind let up. Because the poncho is anchored to the pack haul loop, it can’t fall to either side in this mode. A classic EXPED detail!
Pack Poncho UL stows into its front-situated, internal pocket or the included small stuff sack. All seams are factory-taped for waterproofness and the anatomically-shaped hood is built with a water-shedding protective brim and a single-hand cord-and-toggle adjustment. Snaps at the sleeve openings keep them from slipping upwards during use. Another snap at the bottom edge, situated between the legs, can be engaged to limit flapping in windy conditions.
